Superior Performance

The AL-CAT5HPJW is HyperLink's outdoor version of its HGLN-CAT5-HP

protector. This 3-stage Lightning Protector provides superior lightning

and surge protection for indoor and outdoor 10/100 Base-T Ethernet

networks. Also compatible with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) devices, this

unit provides protection to both Ethernet data pairs as well as the PoE

DC power feed. The unit is not compatible with inverted polarity

voltage PoE equipment.

In the data path, the first stage is comprised of a differential gas

discharge tube. Stage two is a pair of current limiting series

resistors and the final stage is a high speed, low capacitance diode

clamp array. In the power path, the first stage is comprised of a

differential gas discharge tube. Stage two is a pair of filter

inductors and the final stage is a pair of bi-directional clamping

diodes.

Failsafe Architecture

The Advantage of the AL-CAT5HPJW three stage surge protector design is

the added level of protection due to its large power rating and safety

due to its failsafe architecture. In the event of a catastrophic surge

event, the series resistors will fuse and the shunt diodes will short.

This will safely disconnect the line from the datacom equipment.

Hyperlink's CAT5 Lightning Protector is compatible with Wireless Access

Points, Access Servers and Outdoor Routers that support

Power-over-Ethernet (PoE). A ground lug and terminal is provided

directly on the lightning protector, providing superior grounding. A

second ground and terminal is provided for strapping multiple units

together.

For maximum protection from lightning on long cable runs, two

AL-CAT5HPJW's can be used -one at each end of the cable. Most PoE

capable equipment is not protected from surges on it's CAT5 cable.

Outdoor Use

The compact weather resistant housing features a lockable hinged cover

and mounting holes are provided on the rear of the enclosure for

mounting. The two cable grommets may be adjusted to the size of the

cable used and are removable.

Cisco Compatible

This lightning surge protector is

compatible with Cisco legacy network appliance products like Access

Points, DC Injectors and other equipment supporting reverse polarity

PoE pinouts.
